Soon a shortage of new French properties?
Soon a shortage of new French properties?
Today there are more than 115,000 new French properties for sale against 98,000 a year ago. This increased offer is excellent news for holiday home purchasers or investors. They can compare, shop around and decide  for the best development and value. A situation which could very well terminate soon with 40% decrease in new  French property sales in 2008. French promoters reduce the amount of developments which they launch with number of properties on market dropping from 90,000 new properties in 2008 to predicted 75,000 in 2009.
Other markets like individual house builds further drop with only 300,000 this year when 400,000 should be taking place to satisfy demand (main home market for French residents). This doesn't even take into account the 800,000 home deficit to start with...
"Because of this predicted deficit of offer in new French properties, prices should rise" says Jean-Francois Gabilla, President of the French promoter-constructor federation. To put it simply, what you are buying today will most certainly increase in value in next few years.
