Our fears were allayed by the great advice given to us by the owners and the whole week surpassed our expectations. With a brand new telecabine and 4 person chair lift, the capacity has been increased and the village boasts some of the most up to date facilities in the area.
The first sport which comes to mind when you picture an Alpine Village is, of course, that of skiing, the long established Alpine favourite. Thollon-les-Memises is a great ski resort for beginners and intermediate skiers and has 50 kilometres of runs served by lifts as well as six kilometres of cross country trails. The young and trendy members of the party will be delighted to find a good snow park too, so they can try snowboarding, or develop existing skills in the sport! Furthermore you are only 30 minutes drive from the resorts of Portes du Soleil (Chatel, Morzine, etc).
Summer too, brings many sporting opportunities in the mountains. Here the sport of parapenting, which is akin to paragliding and hang gliding, was invented, and if soaring through the clear mountain air dangling from a parachute does not grab you then there is always walking, climbing, swimming, fishing, sailing, horse-riding, golf or tennis to occupy your time!

French property mortgage process
The full French mortgage application process takes between 2-4 weeks depending also on how fast you are in gathering the necessary documents needed for the French mortgage application. Also at this stage the full reservation documents are needed when you apply for the French mortgage. Further down the line, especially when buying an off-plan French property, the completion insurance guarantee from developer (called GFA or Garantie Financiere d’Achevement) is needed in order for the French bank to start releasing the funds to purchase your French property.
